Blog Response #10

When an author writes a book, he or she has a purpose as to why he/she is sharing this story.  This lesson or theme plays out throughout the book.  Share what you believe the author's purpose was for writing this book.  What lesson do you feel he/she wanted you to learn.  (In response to other's blog posts, try to connect your theme with those of other books.)

  2. I believe Elie Wiesel's purpose in writing his Memoir, "Night" was to share his experience with the Holocaust and the theme of survival. Throughout his experience, he is faced with many trials and challenges through his time in the concentration camp system. Everything from watching his people suffer, die, and survive. Despite being one of the survivors, his main reason was to make sure his father survived along with him, even though it never happens.

  4. It Ends With Us, is a story that starts as a love story but becomes to show what love is and Isn't. This book goes through many emotions of jealousy, physical abuse, and emotional abuse. I believe the author wrote this story to show that even if you truly love someone, they will never change their ways and everyone deserves better. The character not only had to think about herself she also had to think about her daughter and what was best for her.

  5. SA Bodeen wrote The Compound for entertainment purposes. She was intrigued with nuclear war, so she came up a story of a rich family that survives a nuclear attack but then add plot twists all over the book. There is not really a lesson that can be learned from this book, but if there is one, it would be that sometimes even the people you think know the can be completely different that you think. Also that you have to make sacrifices.

Sky came out as gay, mint had her hair chopped off and became more of a leader, Alissa was less selfish, Miles talked about his family trauma and got over it, Cleo got caught and hopefully getting help. Leon's purpose was to show everyone in our generation that these times back during World War 2 were terrible. He expresses this so people understand that the holocaust was a tuff time for the Jews. I feel like he wants us to learn that even through the hardships of death camps, Anyone can get through anything as long as you have a strong mindset to power through the most dreadful tasks.

When the family in the book got into a car accident and lost the father and brother, the mother diagnosed her daughter with SCIDS so they shew couldn't leave the house. And the theme is not to care what other people think, because Gabi cares a lot about everyone else's opinion. She talks about, bullying, stereotypes, drug use and just a lot of things that highschoolers relate to. So I think she wrote it to let people know what actually happens and so people don't feel alone.

Because in the start of the book he is with his whole family and would never lose sight of them and than they ended up dying in the concentration camps and he thought he was all alone til he found his uncle. They ended up sticking together throughout the rest of the story and stayed close to him. They ended up getting saved by American soldiers and made it out together with the people that stayed with and trusted them throughout the whole story.

  32. With his book, Night, I believe Elie Wiesel is not only spread his perspective of the holocaust to the masses for them to truly understand, but to also allow the reader to create a warning: to not let history repeat itself. Wiesel's story of his time in Sighet, the town he grew up in, up to the liberation of the concentration camp he was at was expertly conveyed, leaving no major detail out. However, while Wiesel doesn't blatantly wish for this to not happen again in history, I believe it's a key takeaway here. In a historical sense, the holocaust can be seen as a test, a lesson, for the world. In World War II, the United States only decided to join the fight in Europe only after the attack unto Pearl Harbor. While I understand the reason to not engage unless provoked, the United States, being the advocate of liberty and freedom it is, should not have stood idle the end of the war.
